The script writing process is never ending! Just when all seems complete my ideas change and develop again. However, the Celtx pre-production software has made this a more pain free task.
Celtx has developed to version 0.9.9.7. It now features a fabulous index card function which is great for thinking out plot points. I use it to note down ideas I have for the story when I’m unsure whereabouts in the script the element is going to be placed.
I also recommend checking out the Project Central area which has great information about other filmakers and scriptwriters.

Just a quick post today to say thank you to a couple of people for their support recently in developing this independent film otherwise known at ‘the dog from the future’.
Firstly http://sketchypictures.com which features some great resources for compositing in a variety of software - highly recommended.
Also a mention to My (dull) life in film for the the post about this digital film project.
Thanks to everyone, keep the comments coming. Much appreciated.
Dan.

This video shows some of the workings for the new puppet. The basis of the new puppets is 3/4 inch white pipe (available at all good diy shops) and connectors. The connectors link a strong square shape together which forms part of the body. The limbs are joined with garden wire and the joints are strengthened with hot glue over the top. I’m really pleased with the layout of the new puppet body. Hopefully should be finished by Friday.

Hello, it’s Dan here. Sorry for not posting…what do you mean you don’t remember me.
Okay I’m sorry. I’ve been busier that a busy thing but I’m finally back on with ‘The Dog From the Future’. It shall be complete. It shall. First things first where are we up to?
In the past two months and bit I’ve been working on new eyes for some of the main puppets. The old eyes had a tendency not to work! But problem fixed! I’ll be posting details of how I made the eyes later. Also I’ve been testing lots of shots out in shake (hey I think I’m pretty good at shake now). So next I’m going to start working on some scenes. I’ve got the early footage which was shot last summer!!(2007) and will be editing this with new footage where needed ( and hoping like crazy that the two match up).
Upcoming posts:
1) Eyeball workings
2) the completed DOF adapter
3) New footage from filming
4) a finished shot.
Yes that’s right. That’s the next target to complete a finished shot. Since it will be a bit of a milestone I’ll post up the clip when it’s done for all to see.

I had the chance to play with the FX1 the other day. The camera is fantastic to work with. It uses the now familiar touch screen for a lot of the controls and is easy to set up and shoot. Shot a short film as an experiment with a few friends and the results were really good. I’m still not convinced by saving the footage to Mini-DV it just seems a waste of all the quality in the image compressing it down to mini-dv. I would think it would be better to take the footage directly out to another recording point that can handle the footage.

So you’ve got yourself a mac and and a Samsung Camcorder recording in H.264. I’ve read a lot of information (out of date) that says that there are no drivers for mac to use the footage produced by the Samsung VP-HMX10. This is wrong, completely wrong. The footage is handled without any worries by OSX. I use 10.4.11 and I’ve have no problems bringing the footage and importing into both Final Cut and imovie. Your only concern may be that earlier versions of Color (part of the final cut suite) don’t like the H.264 (i think 1.0.2 and previous) format so you would have convert in Final cut to something like the Apple Pro res and then color will be very happy. I’ve tried this work flo and it works fine. Lovely footage!
